RODE NT1-A Review

Before we go into the Rode NT1-A review, we should know a little bit more about the company that brings us such good quality microphones at decent prices.

If you do not already know, Rode Microphones is headquartered in Sydney, Australia and has other offices located in the US and Hong Kong. It is traditionally known for specializing in large diaphragm condenser microphones.

And the Rode NT1-A is supposedly RODES’s best selling microphone, and the world’s quietest studio microphone at that too!

This remake of the Rode NT1 is satin nickel. The original was grey lacquer and works on 24-48V phantom power. It is touted as an all-rounder microphone, delivering well-balanced, clear and warm sounds for both vocals and instruments.

Many are surprised by the low-cost but professional delivery of the Rode NT11-A.

The downside however, is it doesn’t allow you to utilize multiple polar patterns because it is a cardioid-only microphone. Then again, this is only $200 plus, most people would suggest that if you are starting up a home recording studio, the Rode NT1-A is the microphone to start with.

In addition the RODE company has made the Rode NT1-A the complete recording solution by including a premium shockmount with integrated pop filter, high-quality 6m XLR cable, microphone dust cover and even a bonus instructional DVD. Presented by RØDE founder and company president, Peter Freedman, The NT1-A Studio Secrets DVD features a range of tips and techniques to help new users of RØDE NT1-A get the most from their new microphone.
